Frequently asked questions
- What areas of the UK do you cover?
- We cover all of the UK!
- What are upstands?
- Upstands are strips of 20mm x 50, 75 or 100mm thick granite strips that sit on top of the worktops. they sit on the back of the worktops and they add a tidy and attractive finish to your worktops. we can polish and fit them to you worktops at a small extra cost.
- What are splashbacks?
- Splashbacks are pieces of granite thatcan be attached on your wall behind a cooker or hob. They can match your worktops and add an attractive finish to your kitchen.
- How do I look after my worktops?
- Please refer to our after care sections and tips to see how to make the most of your worktops!
- What does undermount and inset mean?
- Inset refers to a sink that sits on top of the granite and generally come with their own draining area. Under mount sinks are fixed to the underside of the granite, requiring a polished cut out in the granite and can come with polished drainer grooves (provide photo?) this is where the extra cost arises from.
- Do you provide samples?
- Yes we can but as granite and marble are natural products the piece you actually receive may not specifically match the sample, alternatively visit our factory show room and choose your own specific piece.
- Can I just purchase a piece of stone?
- Yes, we don't have to template and fit all products! please call us to discuss your requirements
- What must I have on site when you arrive to measure up my kitchen?
- Your kitchen fitter should have fixed the cabinets. It would be good if you have a sink, hob and tap on site.
- Can I have a marble worktop?
- We don't usually recommend marble for use in a kitchen. It is not as scratch and stain resistant as granite so you may notice wear and tear after a few years. However it is very popular for use in bathrooms and fireplaces, both services that we can offer! If your interested don't hesitate to contact us for information and prices.
- Will the joints be visible?
- Yes but their visibility will be made as small as is possible. The colour of the jointing compound will be colour matched to minimise visibility. Some colours will show joints more than others so it helps to bear this in mind when deciding upon your choice of granite and marble.
- Can you simply replace my existing worktops?
- Yes but these will need to be removed before we arrive and the existing cabinets must be strong enough to take the weight of granite.
- Does granite scratch easily?
- To scratch granite you need something as hard or harder than it.
- Can I cut or chop on granite?
- We recommend you use a chopping board to ensure a longer life for your knives.
- Can I have the stone that remains from a sink or cooker cutout?
- This piece is usually broken in the cut out process
